PRODUCE, the Peruvian Ministry of Production, has announced a quota of 3 million metric tons for the first anchovy season of 2025. The quota, which comes at the completion of a biomass assessment by IMARPE, Peru's scientific institute, is the largest since 2018 and 20+% higher than last year's quota. The season is approved to start on April 22, but additional biomass analyses will be undertaken from April 19-21. GOED has heard that there may be a large percentage of juveniles, which could lead to a slower start for the season, but overall this is good news for the omega-3 industry.
